How NOT To Install Stan's Tubeless

For 2015, I signed up for Boggs 2-man in May and the High Cascades 100 in July.

This means some training on the MTB.

Driven by Cookie, Adam Ci, Mark M and I rode from Tennessee Valley to Bolinas Ridge and back,
55 miles (new record) and 8700 feet of climbing.

At about mile 20?, we hit a rocky river bottom and my rear tire went flat. Stans failure. Well,
or my failure, I did not have enough Stans inside to cover the new hole.

Tube inside, finished the rest of the ride with a bit of caution.

Once home at night in the shop, the terror of using Stans came back. Huge mess inside, unable to get the ONE side popped back in place. I took it outside and got a big bucket of soapy water, same problem. The FIX was to pop the bead on BOTH sides of the tire - i.e., don't try just one side at a time. Once I did this, the tire popped both sides! Anyway, some pics of the ride and my fix in the dark.
